BIM Earth

A new, social way to share information about places through interactive mapping

Company Challenge

Founded by architect and BIM aficionado Josh Plager, BIM Earth is an attempt to spread his love of Places and change the way we communicate about them. As Josh is a nontechnical solopreneur, he needed Flight to design and build a full technical prototype.

Challenge Accepted

We love building integrated, deeply networked, decentralized systems, and we're easily excited by GIS and custom mapping technologies. Add in such a fun, engaged, and passionate founder, and this was basically a dream project for us. We dove in full force.

Outdoor enthusiasts can use BIM Earth to share information and images about hiking areas, ski slopes, etc...

Clean, intuitive login modal design.

Users can filter down the layer types to see only information of interest about the places they're looking at.

Popular areas like Mount Hood will end up with many tagged locations, each with a wide range of useful or engaging content.

Simple, intuitive interfaces make it easy for users to create and edit engaging content and for others to find it.

About BIM Earth

BIM Earth is the brainchild of Josh Plager, with a little help from Flight. Josh's long history with the BIM community lead to some vital insights and crisp ideas, and a huge idea we could never build. So, we narrowed the key requirements down to "storing files and information in places on the earth instead of locations in a file structure" and so the app was born.
